Three Reasons to Forgive Others

River of Grace Outreach Ministries International

What is Forgiveness?

Forgiveness is to pardon yourself or someone else from the pain and anger of the past. Forgiveness is the total cancellation of bitterness and a complete new beginning in your life. It is not soft-hearted stupidity but a step toward achieving your breakthroughs. To forgive is courage and essential for your healing. Forgiveness can save your eternal soul and is not optional.

1 Forgiveness is essential for your healing. Jesus saw the relationship between forgiveness of sin and healing. He said, “Thy sins be forgiven thee… Be healed” Matthew 9:2; Mark 2:5.

The Bible tells us, Philippians 4:6 “Be anxious for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God” One day, I opened the door for healing and freedom with a question to God, “What can I do to end this sadness” For your emotional, mental and spiritual survival, you must learn to “do what you have not done before”. The revelation is “you must forgive your enemy, totally and completely.

2. Forgiveness can save your eternal soul. If you will not forgive others, God cannot forgive you. If you remain in a state of unforgiveness, you cannot enter the gates of heaven. The bitterness you are holding toward another person is your “Wall of Jericho” that is preventing your breakthroughs, miracles, testimonies. “ Let it go now, today and completely. What you need is forgiveness and peace.

Forgiveness is not an emotion. It is, first, an act of your will, then God’s peace and joy, which you need to withstand every storm. If you fail to forgive others, you will perpetually live in hell every day of your live. “Let it go right this moment.”

3. Forgiveness is not optional. Jesus said in the book of Matthew 6:14-15, “For if you forgive your brothers and sisters their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive your brothers and sisters their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses”. In the book of Luke 6:37, the Bible tells us to “Forgive, and you will be forgiven”.

In the book of Ephesians 4:32, Apostle Paul tells us to “And be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgive one another, even as God in Christ forgave you. God is perfect, loving and forgiven, and He forgave you and I, all our sins, why then can’t you, with all your faults and failures, forgive others. The fact is not that you “can’t forgive but you just don’t want to forgive.

In the New Testament, there are sixty-two references for forgiveness and twenty-two of those involved forgiving others. Again, without forgiving others and yourself, it is impossible for God to forgive you.

Ask yourself when was the last time you were really vex with somebody? When was the last time you planned to disgrace or hurt somebody because of what the person did to you in the past? The lists are inexhaustible. You will never be free from any of this until you learn to totally forgive others for their trespasses against you. The person you are bitter about is less concerned but you are harming yourself. Forgive them and be free for your peace of mind.

Note! To forgive others without demanding a change in their conduct is to make the grace of God an accomplice to evil. Tell them, I have forgiving you but you must also turn from your sins. The forgiveness that Jesus Christ teaches in the Bible demands a change, repentance. I would hope that this brief article, has made sense to you.
